My Thoughts on Pheromone Scam

"Pheromone Scam" promised a wild ride, and honestly, it delivered. I went in expecting a typical "scum gong regrets" story, but what I found was far more complex and intriguing, a tightly woven drama with characters operating in morally gray areas. It's a quick read, but packs a punch.

First Impressions

Initially, I was prepared for a run-of-the-mill story where the wronged partner leaves, and the other chases after them. The early chapters hint at the MC being a doormat, but that quickly gets subverted. This Bait-and-switch really grabbed my attention. The world-building, where Alphas and Omegas are at the top of the social hierarchy, is significant to the plot and how the MC navigates it.

What Works Well

The biggest draw for me was the MC. He's not your typical weak, submissive character. He’s cunning, manipulative, and driven by his own goals. He uses the Alpha ML and the entire social structure to his advantage. I loved that he was always several steps ahead, and it was thrilling to watch his plans unfold. The plot, while somewhat predictable, kept me engaged, and the side characters added depth to the overall narrative. The communication between the MC and ML, while messy, felt realistic.

Areas of Concern

I did find some of the ML's actions problematic. The dub-con and occasional non-con elements were definitely uncomfortable and detracted from my enjoyment at times. The ML's sudden shift in character, becoming overly possessive, felt a little jarring considering his earlier behavior.

Final Verdict

Despite some problematic elements, "Pheromone Scam" is an entertaining and engaging read. The MC's cunning and the complex relationships make it stand out. If you're looking for a quick, dramatic story with a morally ambiguous protagonist and a flawed, but ultimately redeemable, love interest, this might be for you. Just be aware of the potential triggers before diving in. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
