My Thoughts on Old Man
"Old Man" is a short and sweet yaoi novel that packs an emotional punch. I found myself immediately drawn into the story of a timid protagonist navigating the aftermath of betrayal and discovering love in an unexpected place. While the premise might sound heavy, the overall feel is surprisingly heartwarming.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a bit hesitant. The cheating trope can be a tough sell, and I wasn't sure if I'd connect with the characters. However, the story quickly won me over. The setup is fast-paced, and before I knew it, I was completely invested in the Old Man's journey. I was also rooting for him to find happiness after enduring so much.
What Works Well
The strongest aspect of "Old Man" is the character development, particularly the contrast between the ex-husband and the new love interest. The novel beautifully portrays the healing process and the rediscovery of self-worth. The "Didi" is such a caring and mature partner, especially when compared to the "s*um gong." The age gap might raise eyebrows for some, but their connection feels genuine and sweet. The novel also does an excellent job of portraying the ex's regret.
Areas of Concern
The novel's brevity is both a blessing and a curse. While I appreciated the quick pace, I also felt that some aspects could have been explored further. The motivations of some characters felt a little underdeveloped and the angst could have been explored in more depth.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Old Man" is a worthwhile read. It's a story about finding love and happiness after heartbreak, and it's sure to leave you with a warm feeling. If you enjoy stories with devoted love interests, emotional journeys, and a touch of spice, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Just be prepared to shed a few tears along the way!
