Initially, I was drawn in by the premise of a reborn protagonist, Jing Yue, who gets a second shot at cultivation after being a legendary figure in his past life. The early chapters set the stage nicely, hinting at a grand adventure filled with face-slapping moments (which, let's be honest, are always satisfying in a xianxia). I was also intrigued by the slow-burn romance aspect, knowing that the love interest, Qin Yanzhi, wouldn't appear until much later.
What Works Well
What truly shines in this novel is the world-building. The author has crafted a detailed and imaginative cultivation world with its own lores and rules. I found myself enjoying the progression of the story, and it was satisfying to see the main character progress. Also, the relationship between Jing Yue and Qin Yanzhi, while slow to develop, is ultimately rewarding. Their interactions are sweet and genuine, and they make a compelling power couple. The humor injected into the story is also a great addition, preventing the story from becoming too serious.
