Description
‘Sophia, the daughter of a Marquess, is a villainess who seduced the Crown Prince, despite having a fiance already, and his close aide during her time in the academy. She did whatever she pleased and was banished by her half-sister, to be the bride of a Madman who lives in a remote region.’ While that kind of rumor spread throughout the capital, Sophia isolated herself in the library inside the mansion of the man whose nickname was ‘Lord Hart, the Math Freak’. However, the real Sophia was actually a History geek who rarely expressed herself but a well-spoken lady. Thus, she received the nickname ‘eccentric shut-in’ from the Lord himself. Lord Hart only demanded her to bear his heir but aside from that, Sophia was free to do anything and immersed herself in books all day long. Yet, she was required to attend a ball together with Lord Hart due to some circumstances. As Sophia stayed with that detestable man, she was slowly getting to know him more.

My Thoughts on My Half-Sister Married Me To a Madman But I am Living Happily
First Impressions
Okay, the title definitely grabbed my attention! It's a mouthful, but it promises a wild ride. The premise is intriguing: a half-sister, a forced marriage, and a supposedly mad husband. I was hoping for a darkly comedic romance with a strong female lead. The "European ambience" and "royalty" tags also piqued my interest, setting the stage for some potentially great world-building and drama.
What Works Well
The novel leans heavily into its comedic elements, and I found myself chuckling at some of the absurd situations the protagonist finds herself in. The misunderstandings, a central theme, are often played for laughs, creating a lighthearted atmosphere. The "bookworm" aspect of the female protagonist is also charming. I enjoyed seeing her use her knowledge and love of books to navigate her unusual circumstances. The short story format makes it an easy and quick read, perfect for when you need a dose of escapism. I felt the author did a decent job of establishing the setting, allowing me to imagine the European backdrop and the intricacies of royal life.
Areas of Concern
However, there were elements that didn't quite click for me. I struggled to fully connect with the main character. Her actions sometimes felt passive, and I wished she'd take a more proactive role in shaping her destiny. I also found myself questioning her relationship with her sister. While the story paints her as isolated, the fact that she still managed to meet the crown prince made me wonder if she could have tried harder to connect with her family. The plot hinges on the "forced marriage" trope, which can be tricky to pull off. While the novel aims for comedy, it occasionally veers into territory that feels a bit unsettling.

Final Verdict
My Half-Sister Married Me To a Madman But I am Living Happily is a flawed but ultimately entertaining read. If you're looking for a lighthearted, comedic romance with a touch of European flair, it might be worth checking out. However, be prepared for a protagonist who isn't always the most proactive and a plot that occasionally raises some uncomfortable questions. I'd give it a tentative 3/5 stars. It has potential, but it needs a bit more depth and nuance to truly shine.
