Description
“Nora Kranz, I can’t marry you. I’m breaking our engagement.” An evening party where a multitude of people have assembled. A handsome gentleman with grayish brown hair accompanied by a beautiful lady called out to her. Amidst the murmurs of the crowd speculating whether it was a case of a stolen love affair or a love triangle, Nora opened her mouth. “I don’t remember getting engaged in the first place… Who are you?” Just then, a gentleman with the same grayish brown hair approached them and asked Nora’s hand for engagement. This is the story of a poor Baron’s daughter as she is strung along by a pair of twin noblemen.

My Thoughts on My Engagement Got Broken, But I Don’t Remember Getting Engaged in the First Place
This web novel certainly has a catchy title, doesn't it? I dove in hoping for a lighthearted romance with a dash of mystery, and while I found some of that, my experience was a bit mixed. It’s a story about a woman who suddenly finds out she was engaged, but she has absolutely no memory of it.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, the premise intrigued me. The idea of a broken engagement you don't even remember? That screams potential for some fun misunderstandings and maybe even a little intrigue. The setting feels very European, which always adds a certain charm, and the early chapters definitely set the stage for unraveling the mystery behind the forgotten engagement.
What Works Well
The female lead is, for the most part, quite sensible. I appreciate that she's not portrayed as helpless or naive. She has a good head on her shoulders and makes rational decisions, even if she does have a soft spot for money (relatable, honestly!). The plot is easy to follow, and the interactions between characters are engaging.
There's a certain cuteness to how the male lead falls for the MC. It's described as cliché, but explored in a way that makes it endearing. He actively tries to get closer to her in a natural way, which is a nice change of pace from some of the more forced romances I've read. I also appreciate that the male lead isn't dense and is willing to cut ties with antagonists.
Areas of Concern
One of my biggest issues with the story is the FL's low self-esteem. I understand that she has her reasons, but her constant internal monologue about not being beautiful or worthy can get repetitive. I also found that the romance was moving a bit slowly for my taste.

Final Verdict
My Engagement Got Broken, But I Don’t Remember Getting Engaged in the First Place is a decent read if you're looking for something light and easy to pick up. While the premise is intriguing and the characters have their moments, the slow pacing and some questionable character motivations might not appeal to everyone. It's a solid 3 out of 5 stars for me.
