Okay, so I dove into "Living as an Animal in Various Worlds" expecting a unique ride, and boy, did I get one! The premise alone – a protagonist hopping between different animal forms across various worlds – was enough to pique my interest. From the get-go, the blend of adventure, comedy, and cultivation elements promised a wild and entertaining journey. I was definitely not disappointed by the initial chapters.
What Works Well
The episodic nature of Shi Qian's adventures is a major strength. Each arc, with its new animal form and corresponding world, feels fresh and exciting. I especially enjoyed the creative ways the author explores the challenges and opportunities that come with each transformation. The cultivation aspect is handled well, too. The protagonist's growth feels earned, even with the "fast cultivation" tag, because it's always tied to the unique circumstances of each animal form. The "hidden abilities" and "magical space" elements add another layer of intrigue, constantly making me wonder what Shi Qian would uncover next. The humor is also spot-on, providing a lighthearted counterpoint to the more serious adventure and martial arts aspects. The lack of romance was also a plus for me, as it kept the focus squarely on Shi Qian's personal growth and survival.
Areas of Concern
I have to admit that I was a little taken aback by the ending. While the journey was enjoyable, the conclusion felt somewhat abrupt. I found myself wanting more, especially after getting invested in Shi Qian's development. It felt like there was still so much potential to explore, particularly after the tiger arc, that the ending felt a bit rushed.
