Okay, that title is a mouthful, but I dove into "I Want to Fall in Love…" with an open mind, ready for some reincarnation shenanigans. It's a blend of comedy, fantasy, and romance, and I was hoping for a lighthearted escape. Overall, I found it enjoyable, but with a few caveats.
First Impressions
The initial chapters are definitely intriguing. The heroine's journey from zero to hero (or rather, from zero to S-rank) is appealing. I appreciate that she doesn't start out overpowered; it makes her progress feel earned. The European-inspired setting and hints of magic also create a nice atmosphere. I was hooked by the premise of avoiding a bad ending in a world that seems determined to throw obstacles in her path.
What Works Well
The main character is genuinely likeable. She's described as good-natured and practical, and while she might have her "Bakarina" moments (a reference I immediately understood and appreciated!), her intentions are always pure. The story also has a good dose of humor, which keeps things from getting too heavy, especially considering the potential for dark themes related to the original storyline. The familial relationships, although complex, are a strong point. The doting older brother dynamic, while potentially problematic, adds an interesting layer to the story.
Areas of Concern
One thing that did raise my eyebrow was the brother's sudden possessiveness. It feels a little… off. I couldn’t help but question his motives, and I'm hoping the story delves deeper into the reasons behind his behavior. Also, some of the conversations felt a little forced at times, like the dialogue wasn't flowing as naturally as it could. But, that being said, it didn't detract too much from my overall enjoyment.
