My Thoughts on I Like Your Pheromones
Alright, let's dive into "I Like Your Pheromones." Overall, I found it to be a pretty enjoyable read, especially if you're looking for something light and fluffy in the ABO genre. It definitely has its strengths, but there were a few things that kept it from being a complete home run for me.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. A beta MC suddenly becoming an omega? It sounded like a fun twist on the usual ABO tropes. And for the most part, it was! I appreciated the refreshing take on the omegaverse, where omegas aren't just seen as baby-making machines and are actually treated with respect. That's a huge plus in my book.
What Works Well
What really stood out to me was the relationship between the MC and ML. It's genuinely sweet and develops at a comfortable pace. The ML is portrayed as respectful and considerate, which is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the more…problematic alpha characters you often find in this genre. I also enjoyed how the MC remained true to himself, even after his omega awakening. He's not your typical weak and submissive omega, and I loved that he could hold his own. The side characters, while maybe not the most fleshed out, added a nice touch of humor and support to the story. It was also nice to see the MC's growth throughout the story. It's always satisfying to watch a character evolve and work towards their goals.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, there were a few things that bothered me. The pacing felt a bit off at times, with abrupt scene changes that left me feeling like I'd missed something. Also, there were moments where the MC's actions felt a bit out of character, like he was doing things just to move the plot forward. I also felt that the second half of the novel lost some of its initial spark.
