My Thoughts on High Priest

"High Priest" presented an intriguing premise that initially grabbed my attention, but ultimately left me with mixed feelings. The blend of genres – adventure, comedy, fantasy, and yaoi – promised a unique reading experience, and while it delivered on some fronts, other aspects fell short of my expectations.

The setup is undeniably captivating. Our main character is essentially a reincarnated retiree who chose modern Earth as his chill-out zone. However, Earth's karma is all messed up, creating an imbalance that allows monsters to invade. This concept of Earth's protection failing and the subsequent interdimensional chaos immediately drew me in. The idea of a hands-off MC guiding humanity through this crisis also felt refreshing.

What Works Well

I appreciated the story's lighthearted tone and the MC's somewhat detached approach. It was interesting to see the military and his friends stepping up to fight the demons, with the MC offering guidance when needed.
