My Thoughts on Hidan no Aria
Alright, let's dive into Hidan no Aria. This one's been on my radar for a while, and after reading through some initial impressions, I'm ready to share my take. It seems to be a bit of a mixed bag, but with enough interesting elements to warrant a closer look.
First Impressions
My first impression is that Hidan no Aria aims to be a fun, action-packed ride. It blends genres like action, comedy, romance, and school life, and it seems to hit some of those notes pretty well. It's got that battle academy setting, which I'm always a sucker for, and the promise of gunfights mixed with humor definitely piqued my interest.
What Works Well
The writing style appears to be a strong point. I heard that it keeps you engaged, constantly introducing new questions and a desire to find the answers. The balance between action, comedy, and romance is also something that stood out to me. While it might not excel in any single area, it maintains a good equilibrium, creating an enjoyable reading experience. The action sequences, in particular, are said to be vividly written, making them easy to visualize. And the comedic moments? Apparently, they're pure gold.
Areas of Concern
Now, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. One major point of contention I've seen is the author's... proclivities. Apparently, certain fetishes are projected onto the characters and plot a little too often, which can become grating. The MC's character also seems to be a point of division. While he's sometimes likable, he can also display frustrating traits like a strong inferiority complex. The forgiving nature toward characters who attempt to harm him is also something that some readers found unrealistic and irritating.
Final Verdict
Overall, Hidan no Aria seems like a novel with a lot of potential that's held back by some questionable choices. If you're looking for a lighthearted, action-filled story with a harem element and don't mind some potentially off-putting character traits, then it might be worth checking out. However, if you're easily bothered by certain tropes or authorial indulgences, you might want to proceed with caution. It's a fun ride, but be prepared for a few bumps along the way.
