Description
The apocalypse has arrived. As society’s order steadily crumbles, Wu Heng watches helplessly as everyone around him dies one by one. Meanwhile, a few lucky survivors begin to awaken supernatural abilities. But he remains the same—ordinary and unremarkable, just like he was back in school. Wu Heng hides at home with his parents and younger sister, too afraid to venture outside. Food runs out quickly, and late at night, Wu Heng overhears his parents discussing whether to eat his sister first or himself first. Wu Heng quietly pushes open the master bedroom door, “Mom, I’m hungry. Can I have a bite of you first?” — Wu Heng leaves home with his sister and joins the large group of classmates. His sister notices that their classmates are very cold toward them. They seem to think Wu Heng is just a powerless loser. But he’s not. He can even tear ghosts apart and chew them up. — Several classmates mysteriously disappear. After roll call, the class monitor confronts Wu Heng: “Do you know where they went?” The monitor asks bluntly. Wu Heng shakes his head blankly. “I don’t know.” The class monitor narrows his eyes, “Have you eaten?” “Dinner… have, have I eaten? I-I did.” Wu Heng stammers. The monitor replies, “No, I mean—did you eat them?” Wu Heng’s bright face suddenly tightens with nervousness and embarrassment. “I only ate a little.”

My Thoughts on Have You Eaten?
"Have You Eaten?" immediately grabbed my attention with its unique premise and dark themes. The blend of action, drama, horror, and shounen ai, set against an apocalyptic backdrop, promises a thrilling and emotionally charged read. From what I've gathered so far, this isn't your typical zombie story, and that's precisely what makes it so compelling.
First Impressions
The story throws you right into the thick of it. The protagonist isn't your run-of-the-mill hero. He's complex, morally grey, and, frankly, a little unsettling. From the get-go, you sense that something's not quite right with him, and the slow unraveling of his humanity, due to his unique existence as a chimera of different monsters, is fascinating to watch. The early chapters set a strong, albeit disturbing, tone that hooked me instantly.
What Works Well
The character development, particularly of the MC, seems to be a major strength. His internal struggles, his gradual descent, and the emotional distance he develops are all portrayed with nuance. I'm particularly intrigued by the exploration of the "in-between" state of being neither fully human nor fully monster. The story also appears to delve into the moral decay of side characters, showcasing how they succumb to the allure of cannibalism, which adds depth to the world-building and raises interesting questions about survival and humanity. The dynamic between the MC and ML, described as almost enemies at first, also holds significant promise. The tension and distrust between them, coupled with the MC's desire to consume the ML, creates a compelling foundation for their relationship to evolve.

Final Verdict
"Have You Eaten?" isn't for the faint of heart, given its mature themes and depictions of cruelty. However, if you're looking for a dark, character-driven story with a morally ambiguous protagonist and a unique take on the zombie genre, this might be right up your alley. I'm eager to see where the author takes this story and how the MC navigates his increasingly monstrous nature. I am definitely looking forward to reading more.
