My Thoughts on Give Me Your Hands and Marry Me
"Give Me Your Hands and Marry Me" is a modern romance that's definitely a rollercoaster. I went in expecting a sweet love story, but it turned out to be much more dramatic and convoluted than I initially anticipated. While there are aspects I enjoyed, there are also some serious reservations I have about the overall execution.
First Impressions
The beginning is definitely a grabber. The female lead, thrust back into her wealthy family after a difficult upbringing, faces a series of increasingly outrageous challenges. It's a classic setup for a revenge plot, but the story quickly veers into darker territory, with conspiracies and schemes aplenty. It’s a slow burn, with mysteries and backstories revealed gradually.
What Works Well
I found the mystery surrounding the jade pendants and the ML's quest to find them genuinely intriguing. The FL's hidden skills and the secrets surrounding her past also add layers of complexity to the narrative. There were moments of humor in the interactions between the leads, providing a welcome respite from the heavier themes. I also appreciated the FL's initial resilience and her awareness of the ill intentions of those around her. She wasn't naive, which is refreshing.
Areas of Concern
However, the sheer volume of traumatic events endured by the female lead is a major sticking point for me. The constant drugging, attempted assaults, and manipulations become overwhelming and, frankly, desensitizing. It's hard to root for a romance when the foundation is built on such disturbing circumstances. The ML's past actions, no matter how explained away, cast a long shadow over their relationship. The "magical" falling in love after he takes a bullet for her felt unearned and rushed, considering everything that came before.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Give Me Your Hands and Marry Me" is a mixed bag. While the mystery and slow-burn romance have their appeal, the sheer amount of trauma and questionable character motivations make it a difficult read. I'm on the fence about recommending it; proceed with caution and be prepared for a wild, often unsettling, ride.
