Description
I, Mitsuru Yokotani, was suddenly transported to another world due to a mistake by a God and I was asked to save the hero, who was destined to live a life full of tragedy. I was told if I raised the hero until he was mature enough to go out on his journey, I would be allowed to return to my original world. Albeit reluctant, I visited the s*ave market and bought the future hero, who was about to be thrown away by the s*ave trader. I took him back to the house that the god had prepared for him. However, when I was transported to this world, the God also changed my appearance. I became a grotesque, overweight middle-aged nobleman. The future hero displayed clear hostility toward me. Even after he grew up to become a fine young man and a hero, the hero still hated me. Immediately after the hero went on his journey with his friends, I was attacked by a demon beast and lost my life in return. Upon opening my eyes again, I found myself back in my original world. Exhausted and fed up with everything, I just lived day by day by going through the motions. I was in a constant state of despair, but then, I was summoned to that world again. But this time, I wasn’t summoned as the villainous nobleman, but as the divine child to save the world… A story of the hero who was once a s*ave x the unfortunate young man whose appearance was changed by the god. Mitsuru truly believed that the hero hated him, but the hero actually loved Mitsuru since they first met. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say the hero was obsessed with Mitsuru. Though the hero had a yandere tendency, but the hero was able to appear as a charming and devoted hero thanks to his friends.

My Thoughts on Even Though All I Did Was Raise the Hero
Okay, so I dove into "Even Though All I Did Was Raise the Hero" with some… expectations. The tags promised a wild ride, and well, it delivered on that front, though maybe not in the way I'd hoped. This novel is definitely not for the faint of heart, given some of the content warnings.
First Impressions
My initial reaction was a bit of whiplash. The pacing is incredibly fast. We're talking zero to sixty in a matter of chapters. The world-building, character development, and plot progression happen so quickly that it's hard to fully grasp what's going on. It feels like we're skipping over crucial moments that would add depth and emotional resonance.
What Works Well
Honestly, finding positives was a bit of a challenge. The premise itself – a protagonist raising a hero – has potential. The idea of exploring the complexities of that relationship, especially with the added layer of reincarnation and a fantasy setting, is intriguing. Also, if you're looking for something that doesn't drag on, this is it. It's a short, relatively quick read, which might appeal to some.
Areas of Concern
The rapid pacing is a major issue. The story jumps from plot point to plot point with little explanation or emotional build-up. Relationships, especially the central romance, feel rushed and underdeveloped. The lack of subtlety is also a problem. Character motivations and past events are often explicitly stated rather than shown, which makes the story feel somewhat shallow. The resolution of conflicts seems too easy, and the characters' actions are often illogical.

Final Verdict
"Even Though All I Did Was Raise the Hero" has some interesting ideas, but the execution falls short. The breakneck pacing, underdeveloped relationships, and reliance on telling rather than showing make it difficult to connect with the story on an emotional level. While the premise is intriguing, the overall experience left me feeling underwhelmed. Unless you're specifically looking for a very fast-paced, plot-driven story with potentially problematic elements, I'd suggest approaching this one with caution.
