The premise is certainly intriguing: a terminally ill, wealthy young man proposing a contractual relationship to his idol. I initially expected a heavier, angstier story, but it leans more towards lighthearted and fluffy, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, just different from what I anticipated. I think going in with the right expectations is important here.
What Works Well
Many readers praised the dynamic between the main couple, Song Jianchu and Mu Ye. Their interactions are undeniably cute, especially the ML's clinginess and the MC's calm demeanor, only showing his shyness around the ML. I found the "A fell first, but B fell harder" trope executed well here. The comedy was also on point for me, I found myself giggling quite a bit. The MC's flippant attitude and competence in various areas were refreshing. I also appreciated that the novel touches on mature themes like terminal illness and psychological issues, giving it a bit more depth.
