My Thoughts on Doomsday Cruise
"Doomsday Cruise" is quite the rollercoaster ride! Starting strong with a bang, it throws you headfirst into an apocalyptic survival game. The premise is intriguing: a cruise ship becomes a haven (and a battleground) during the end of the world. While it hooked me initially, there are definitely some choppy waters ahead.
First Impressions
The opening chapters are undeniably gripping. I appreciate how the author dives right into the action, skipping the drawn-out exposition and throwing us into the thick of the first survival game. The introduction of the MC and her companions felt well-paced, and I was genuinely curious to see how they'd navigate this new, terrifying reality. The first game was indeed unique and detailed, as noted by other readers.
What Works Well
The initial concept of the "Doomsday Cruise" is fantastic. The idea of a luxury liner transformed into a vessel for survival, complete with its own set of rules and challenges, is ripe with potential. The early games and instances that the MC and her team face are engaging, and I found myself invested in their progress. The powers that the characters gain add another layer of complexity and excitement to the story.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the novel seems to lose its way in the latter half. The potential for team building, guild functions, and exploring the wider world hinted at after the team battle felt completely squandered. The games, which were initially a strong point, become repetitive and less engaging. The ending, from what I gather, leaves much to be desired. The romance, while promising at first, apparently falls flat, which is a shame.
