My Thoughts on Don’t Annoy Me, My Ex-Husband!
Okay, buckle up, because my experience with "Don’t Annoy Me, My Ex-Husband!" was… a ride. A bumpy, frustrating ride. I went in hoping for some angsty romance, maybe a touch of revenge, but what I found left me feeling pretty uneasy.
First Impressions
Initially, the premise – an ex-husband trying to win back his former wife – seemed like it had potential. The "bickering couple" tag hinted at some entertaining banter, perhaps a slow burn reconciliation. However, it quickly became clear that the bickering was masking something far darker.
What Works Well
Honestly, finding positives was a challenge. If I have to dig deep, I did appreciate the character of Su YuanYuan/Nuannuan, who was portrayed as a strong, independent woman. Her storyline, while perhaps tangential, offered a glimpse of the kind of female empowerment I was hoping to see more of. She seemed to know her worth and how to set boundaries, which was a refreshing contrast to the female lead.
Areas of Concern
Where do I even begin? The biggest issue, by far, is the Male Lead (ML). He's consistently depicted as abusive and manipulative. The relationship dynamic is incredibly unhealthy, and I struggled to understand why the Female Lead (FL) would entertain his advances, let alone consider reconciliation. The power imbalance is jarring, and I found myself increasingly frustrated with the FL's seeming inability to stand up for herself. The lack of consequences for the ML's actions made it even harder to stomach.

Ultimately, I can't recommend "Don’t Annoy Me, My Ex-Husband!" The problematic relationship dynamics, the abusive behavior of the ML, and the FL's apparent helplessness created a reading experience that was more infuriating than enjoyable. While the story may have moments of potential, they are overshadowed by the deeply troubling themes and character portrayals. If you're looking for a lighthearted or empowering romance, this is definitely not it.
