My Thoughts on Di Daughter’s Strategy
"Di Daughter’s Strategy" had been on my radar for a while, and I finally dove in. Overall, I found it to be a pretty engaging read, though it had its moments where I was more invested than others. It's a solid historical romance with a clever female lead, but it's not without its complexities.
First Impressions
I initially expected a light, feel-good story, but I was quickly proven wrong. This novel is steeped in court intrigue and family schemes, which definitely piqued my interest. The setup is classic: a despised di daughter navigating the treacherous waters of ancient Chinese society. Right away, I was drawn to the protagonist and her calm demeanor.
What Works Well
The female lead is definitely a highlight. She’s not your typical damsel in distress. She's intelligent, calculating, and, dare I say, a little ruthless. She doesn’t give the reborn second female lead a chance to retaliate, which I found refreshing. I tend to prefer female leads who prioritize their own well-being, and she definitely fits that bill. I also appreciated the slow-burn romance between her and the male lead. It wasn't an instant connection based on superficial attraction, but a gradual development of feelings. Plus, the family dynamics (excluding the problematic siblings) are genuinely heartwarming, which provided a nice contrast to the scheming.

Despite a few minor gripes, I enjoyed "Di Daughter’s Strategy." It's a well-written historical romance with a strong female lead and engaging plot. While the schemes and conspiracies keep you on your toes, the heartwarming family moments provide a welcome balance. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a historical romance with a bit more substance than your average fluffy read. It's a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars for me.
