My Thoughts on Chasing the Moon
"Chasing the Moon" has definitely captured my attention, and I can see why it's garnering so much interest, especially with the drama adaptation. The story of Yuemi and Tianqi is one that pulls you in, even if, like me, you're coming to it fresh without prior knowledge of the "Ancient God" universe.
First Impressions
From the start, the world-building is captivating, and the premise of a broken engagement and a quest for answers immediately hooked me. The xianxia elements are well-integrated, creating a mystical and intriguing backdrop for the unfolding drama and romance. I appreciate the translator's work in bringing this story to life for English-speaking audiences; it's clear a lot of passion went into it.
What Works Well
The main character is definitely a highlight. I found her to be clever and, at times, even carefree, which makes her journey all the more compelling. The author does a great job of weaving a narrative that keeps you guessing, with secrets and revelations that unfold at a satisfying pace. The relationships, particularly the central romance, are complex and layered, adding emotional depth to the overall story.
Areas of Concern
While I'm thoroughly enjoying the story, I can see where some readers might find certain aspects a bit jarring. There were moments when the protagonist's deductions felt a little rushed, like she was jumping to conclusions without enough evidence. This didn't completely detract from my enjoyment, but it's something I noticed. Additionally, it seems the author has temporarily put the story on hold, perhaps due to the drama adaptation, which is a real shame. Reaching chapter 84 and then hitting a cliffhanger would be frustrating, especially when the story is getting better and better.

Overall, I'd say "Chasing the Moon" is a worthwhile read. The engaging plot, well-developed characters, and beautiful writing make it a gem within the xianxia genre. Despite the minor pacing issues and the current hiatus, I'm eagerly anticipating the continuation of Yuemi and Tianqi's story, hoping to see Bai Shou and Fan Yue find their way back to each other. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars, with the potential to rise even higher once the story is complete.
