He's usually just a corpse on the floor, but now he can observe and even subtly influence the mission takers. This perspective, seeing the game from the eyes of a non-player character, is what really hooked me in.
What Works Well
The world-building is a standout. The concept of nightmare scenes, the tower, and the overarching mystery of humanity's situation kept me invested. I appreciated how the side characters were fleshed out, often driving the plot forward as they solved the mysteries within each arc. The MC is also not really the one running around trying to solve the mysteries because of his assigned role in the game and it can feel like you're watching the game with him rather than him actually being part of this novel.
