Okay, so I dove into After Rebirth, I Severed Ties... with pretty high hopes. Rebirth stories are usually my jam – the whole second chance at life thing is always appealing. But, I have to say, my experience was a bit of a mixed bag.

The initial premise is definitely intriguing. A protagonist gets a second shot at life after presumably dealing with a toxic family situation. The title itself promises some serious drama and regret, which, let's be honest, is half the reason I picked it up. I was ready for some cathartic family reckoning!
What Works Well
The complex family relationships are definitely a strong point, at least conceptually. The idea of severing ties and watching the fallout has a certain allure. The promise of a "handsome male lead" is always a plus, and the slice-of-life elements offer a breather from the heavier themes. It seems like there's potential for some genuine character development, especially as he navigates his relationships and new life.
Areas of Concern
However, I did stumble across some issues that held me back from fully enjoying the story. The protagonist's age and behavior felt a bit off. If he’s supposed to be 18, his actions sometimes felt much younger, which made it harder for me to connect with him. The story also seems to lean heavily into the "passive protagonist" trope, where the MC mostly reacts to events rather than driving the plot forward. I personally prefer MCs who are more proactive in shaping their destinies, so this was a bit of a letdown. Furthermore, the potential romantic interests that were alluded to felt like too many too soon.

However, the execution needs some work. The protagonist's behavior and the pacing of the plot could use some tweaking. If you're a die-hard fan of rebirth stories and don't mind a more passive protagonist, you might find something to enjoy here. But for me, it fell a little short of expectations.
