When he came across Zhao Shengge’s belongings, he would ask his friend to pass them on. When someone tried using him to get close to Zhao Shengge through him, he’d apologize and say that they don’t actually know each other… Or at least that’s what he believed. Until that moment on the cruise ship, when the other person stared at him quietly, cigarette between his lips as he slowly said: “Chen Wan, I didn’t bring a lighter.” On the surface, it’s the shou chasing the gong, but it’s actually the gong calmly orchestrating the chase, maneuvering the shou towards him.
