My Thoughts on Zombie Apocalypse

"Zombie Apocalypse" promised a thrilling ride through a post-apocalyptic world teeming with the undead. As a fan of the genre, I was eager to delve into a story of survival, action, and perhaps even a dash of sci-fi with the "godly powers" tag. However, my experience was a mixed bag, to say the least.

First Impressions

Initially, the story hooked me. The setup, a world ravaged by zombies with a futuristic twist, held potential. The idea of characters developing unique abilities, whether through the zombie virus or inherited from "Sword Cultivators from beyond the galaxy," was intriguing. I was ready to see how the protagonist would navigate this new, dangerous reality.

What Works Well

The early chapters do a decent job of establishing the apocalyptic setting. The struggles for survival, the scarcity of resources, and the ever-present threat of zombies create a tense atmosphere. The concept of humans resorting to cannibalism adds a dark edge, highlighting the desperation of the situation. The initial introduction of powers also felt promising, offering a glimmer of hope in a bleak world.

Areas of Concern

Unfortunately, as I read on, several issues began to surface. The protagonist's constant dwelling on his ex-wife, who cheated on him, became tiresome. The narrative seemed to get bogged down in his emotional turmoil, hindering the progress of the story. The introduction of the harem element, despite the initial lack of a tag, felt forced and unnecessary. The plot contrivances, where every other character seemed connected to the MC in some improbable way, strained my suspension of disbelief. The characters often felt one-dimensional, and their actions sometimes bordered on the absurd, making it difficult to connect with them.
