My Thoughts on Young Again
"Young Again" had me hooked from the start with its quirky premise and promise of a lighthearted romance. The story centers on Lu Yu, who wakes up ten years in the future, married to his teenage crush, Ming Yan, only to be met with a request for divorce. It's a recipe for hilarious chaos, and I was eager to see how it unfolded.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn to the comedic elements. The idea of the younger MC interacting with his older self, getting jealous of him, and even scolding him, had me laughing out loud. It's a clever setup that allows for plenty of self-deprecating humor and heartwarming moments as Lu Yu tries to win over Ming Yan.
What Works Well
The core strength of "Young Again" lies in its characters. Lu Yu is a confident and adorable protagonist, whose boldness is exactly what his relationship with Ming Yan needs. Their dynamic is undeniably cute, and their interactions are often hilarious. The addition of the "balloon kids," an AI family, adds another layer of sweetness and lightheartedness to the story.
I also appreciated the balance between fluff and angst. While the novel is primarily a rom-com, it delves into the characters' pasts and explores some deeper emotional themes. The story gives each other a second chance and the author does a good job of making the reader root for them.
Areas of Concern
While the novel is generally well-received, some readers have pointed out confusing parts in the writing. While I haven't personally experienced this yet, it's something to be aware of.

Overall, "Young Again" is a sweet and funny novel that I would recommend to anyone looking for a lighthearted and entertaining read. The characters are endearing, the plot is engaging, and the humor is spot-on. While there may be some confusing moments, the overall experience is a positive one. If you're a fan of rom-coms with a touch of angst and a healthy dose of fluff, then "Young Again" is definitely worth checking out.
