Description
A dungeon suddenly appeared on Earth, granting humanity newfound abilities. However, these powers were confined to the inside of the dungeon. The use of magic and the manifestation of supernatural abilities were only possible within the confines of the dungeon, leaving the real world largely unaffected. Despite this, the lives of many people continued unchanged. In the midst of this, the protagonist, a high school student, awakens to a skill known as “Gate,” a teleportation-like ability. With a displayed level in his hands, a new adventure seemed to unfold. On his way home from school, the protagonist decides to test the Gate skill at a normal street corner. In an instant, he finds himself standing in a different dimension, surrounded by unfamiliar landscapes. In this modern fantasy world, the protagonist levels up, learns magic, and hones various skills. He faces the mysteries of the dungeon, encounters new allies, and immerses himself in adventures different from the real world.

When an Adventurer Exits the Dungeon, They Become Just an Ordinary Person Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on When an Adventurer Exits the Dungeon, They Become Just an Ordinary Person
I went into "When an Adventurer Exits the Dungeon, They Become Just an Ordinary Person" with a hopeful attitude, always eager to discover a hidden gem. The premise itself – a blend of modern-day life with dungeon crawling and a level system – had potential. However, my experience, like that of some other readers, was mixed.
First Impressions
Initially, the story pulled me in with its world-building. The idea of adventurers transitioning back to mundane life after facing fantastical challenges is intriguing. I was curious to see how the protagonist would balance his newfound powers with everyday responsibilities.
What Works Well
Despite some significant drawbacks, the core concept of the story remains interesting. The protagonist's journey, even with its flaws, can be engaging at times. There's a certain appeal to watching him navigate his dual existence, even if his decisions sometimes seem questionable. The fact that he doesn't always make the "right" choices, and still manages to succeed through cleverness, adds a layer of unpredictability that kept me somewhat invested.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, several issues hindered my enjoyment. The execution of the magic and level system felt shallow. The protagonist's apparent lack of emotional connection to his abilities made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. It felt more like he was playing a game than truly living within the world.
The quality of the translation was also a significant problem. Confusing gender swaps, inconsistent terminology for skills and jobs, and awkward phrasing made it difficult to follow the plot at times. This lack of polish detracted from the overall reading experience. I found myself having to reread sections multiple times to grasp the intended meaning, which became quite frustrating.
Finally, the plot progression felt somewhat illogical. The idea that a government would send untrained individuals into dangerous dungeons with minimal preparation strained my suspension of disbelief. This lack of realism made it harder to connect with the story and its characters.
Final Verdict
"When an Adventurer Exits the Dungeon, They Become Just an Ordinary Person" has an interesting premise, but ultimately falls short due to issues with execution and translation. While there are moments of entertainment to be found, the flaws are significant enough to make it a challenging read. If you're willing to overlook these problems, it might serve as a decent time-killer, but I wouldn't recommend it as a top priority.
