Initially, I was prepared for a heavy, gloomy read, but I was pleasantly surprised by the youthful energy and witty banter. The characters felt realistic, grappling with relatable family, academic, and social issues. The premise is intriguing. It made me want to keep reading.

The strength of this novel lies in its characters and their relationships. I found the dynamic between the female lead (FL) and her stepbrother particularly well-done, mirroring real-life complexities. The male lead (ML), despite his aloofness, has a charming side, and I enjoyed seeing him navigate his feelings for the FL. The story is about overcoming grief and finding love, and it delivers on that promise with warmth and a good dose of romance.
