"The Queen's Rise to the Top" is quite the ride! This novel throws you headfirst into a world of entertainment, military intrigue, and a whole lot of comedy. With a premise that combines a transmigrated ancient general with the modern celebrity world, it's certainly unique. While it has its flaws, it's also undeniably fun and engaging.

First Impressions

Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a strong female lead navigating the cutthroat entertainment industry with the skills of a seasoned general. The blend of genres – action, comedy, fantasy, romance, and even a touch of school life – seemed like a recipe for a captivating story. And for the most part, it delivers.

What Works Well

The FL is truly the star here. Her character is a delightful mix of fierce general, shameless bandit leader, and surprisingly naive celebrity trainee. I loved her dedication, her weird thought processes, and her unwavering patriotism. The author does a great job of balancing her past life experiences with her new reality, making her both relatable and larger than life.

The comedic elements are also a major strength. From the FL's interactions with her quirky family (her mom and the ML's mom are special forces rivals!) to the various challenges she faces in the entertainment world, there's plenty of humor to keep you entertained. The supporting characters are also well-developed and add to the overall enjoyment of the story.

Areas of Concern

While I enjoyed the novel, I can see why some readers had reservations. The age gap between the FL and ML (she starts at 17, he's 25) is definitely a point of contention. While the romance develops slowly and respectfully, the initial power imbalance can be uncomfortable for some.

Also, the plot seems to take a bizarre turn later on in the story. The introduction of a "space force" felt out of place and detracted from the grounded, character-driven narrative that I had come to enjoy.
