Going in, I was intrigued by the title. "The Little Crying Bag"? "Mr. Grumpy"? I immediately pictured a delightful dynamic, and the synopsis only solidified that. The idea of a crybaby protagonist paired with a grumpy but secretly caring love interest is a classic for a reason. I also knew going in that this was a completed story that was still actively being translated.
What Works Well
The core of this story is the relationship between Tang Miao (the crying bag) and Qi Ming (Mr. Grumpy), and it's absolutely charming. I loved watching their connection develop from childhood friends to lovers. The author did a fantastic job of portraying their feelings for each other, even through the seven-year separation. The angst during that time was palpable, and the eventual reunion was so satisfying.
What really stood out to me was the character growth. Even though it's a short story, I could see how both Tang Miao and Qi Ming evolved over time. The side characters were also a strong point. I especially appreciated that the female characters weren't portrayed as villains, which is a refreshing change of pace in BL stories. Qu Yao, a classmate, was a particular highlight.
