First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise: a powerful imperial advisor, skilled in the mystic arts, transmigrates to the modern world after a self-sacrificing act. The idea of him navigating a new era with his unique abilities, coupled with the promise of a devoted emperor following him through time, was definitely intriguing. The early chapters, focusing on the MC's adaptation and his foray into solving supernatural problems for the wealthy, held my attention.
What Works Well
The novel shines in its depiction of the MC's capabilities and his interactions with the modern world. I enjoyed seeing him use his ancient knowledge to tackle contemporary problems, and the concept of him using a magical treasury to fund his endeavors was a clever touch. The male lead's unwavering devotion is also a strong point. His pursuit of the MC across time, and his willingness to play the pitiful card to stay close, adds a layer of sweetness to the story. The author did a decent job setting the stage for the world that was created.
Areas of Concern
However, the story does have its shortcomings. The pacing felt rushed at times, with problems being resolved a little too easily. The MC's OP nature, while initially appealing, eventually diminishes the sense of stakes. Also, while the romance is present, the development of the MC's feelings felt somewhat abrupt.
