Description
Xie Yishu was an outstanding student and the 7,621st graduate of Nanxi University. On the day of graduation, he wanted to propose to his boyfriend, but he ended up transmigrating unexpectedly. He transmigrated to Ancient Blue Planet and lived there for five years before he returned back. At first glance, nothing seemed to have changed. It was just hard to find a job and they discovered that his boyfriend had disappeared. Xie felt like he was played by fate: … In order to live, Xie Yishu became a nursery school activity teacher. There was a child in the nursery school named Bo Zai. He was chubby, cute, and soft. He looked like him when he was a child. The other teachers told Xie Yishu that the little child’s life was very pitiful. “He comes from a single-parent household. Only his dad takes care of him; he has no mother.” “His father seems to be a car mechanic.” “I heard that his father owed other people money. So, he had to often move from house to house and change nursery schools for the little one.” Xie Yishu’s heart was about to melt after learning the little one’s background. Until one night… The little child video called him and asked him in tears to accompany him to find his father. Xie Yishu looked at the picture sent by the little child. The man in the photo looked exactly like his college boyfriend.

My Thoughts on The Cub’s Father Pretends to Be Poor Everyday
First Impressions
The Cub’s Father Pretends to Be Poor Everyday immediately hooked me with its charming premise. The idea of a ridiculously wealthy male lead pretending to be poor to win back the affections of the male lead who is the father of his child? Comedy gold! The "childcare" and "lovers reunited" tags definitely piqued my interest, promising a heartwarming and humorous read. I went in expecting fluff, and for the most part, that's what I got.
What Works Well
The absolute star of this novel is undoubtedly the "cub"! The child is portrayed as genuinely innocent and adorable, not some miniature adult spouting philosophical insights. I found myself consistently charmed by the dynamic between the MC, ML, and their child. The early chapters are filled with sweet, slice-of-life moments that had me grinning. The initial misunderstandings were also quite funny. The ML's desperate attempts to maintain his "poor" facade, despite his immense wealth, are genuinely entertaining. The author does a good job of portraying the ML as devoted and a little childish, especially when it comes to the MC. I also appreciated that the MC isn't overpowered. He has normal skills and strengths, which made him feel more relatable.
Areas of Concern
As the story progressed, however, I found myself getting a little weary. The humor that was initially so fresh started to feel repetitive. The "hiding true identity" plotline, while initially amusing, began to drag. I started to crave more plot development beyond the domestic fluff. While the lack of angst is a positive for some, I felt it swung too far in the other direction, leading to a somewhat predictable and less engaging narrative. I found the ending to be rushed, leaving some plot threads unresolved.

Final Verdict
The Cub’s Father Pretends to Be Poor Everyday is a sweet and lighthearted read, perfect for anyone looking for a fluffy, low-angst story with a cute kid and a devoted couple. However, be aware that the plot is relatively simple, and the humor can become repetitive. If you're looking for a deep, complex narrative, this might not be the novel for you. But if you want a dose of sweetness and fluff, this could be just what you need. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
