As a sucker for female-led cultivation stories, I dove in with high hopes. While the novel has its charms, I found myself wrestling with a few aspects that kept me from fully embracing it.

First Impressions

The premise is undeniably intriguing: a protagonist armed with a system, trying to rewrite her tragic fate. The initial chapters hooked me with the promise of a strong female lead navigating a treacherous world and forging a deep connection with her cold, aloof Shizun. The blend of action, alchemy, and ancient settings painted a vivid picture.

What Works Well

The system is a definite highlight. Instead of being a nagging presence, it genuinely assists the MC, providing helpful recipes and information. This supportive system adds a layer of depth to the alchemy aspects of the story, making it more engaging than a simple power-up mechanic. I also appreciated the glimpses of the older, seemingly kind, alchemy master. Characters like that can add much-needed warmth to stories like these.
