My Thoughts on [Sad News] I, a Junior High School Graduate Low Class Streamer Striving to Support My Little Sister, Encountered Two Beautiful Sisters in an SS-Ranked Dungeon, but They Turned Out to Be Unparalleled Yandere Influencers
Alright, that title is a mouthful, isn't it? So, I dove into [Sad News] I, a Junior High School Graduate... (I'm just going to shorten it to Sad News for my sanity) with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. The premise is certainly… unique. A struggling streamer with a little sister to support stumbles into a dungeon and finds himself entangled with a pair of yandere influencer sisters. Buckle up, folks.
First Impressions
My initial reaction mirrored that of some other readers: this is dumb. The world-building, particularly the societal prejudice against those who didn't finish high school, felt a bit forced and over-the-top. It seems almost comically exaggerated, and the protagonist's treatment sometimes felt contrived just to manufacture drama.
What Works Well
Despite my initial reservations, Sad News has a certain addictive quality. It's the kind of story you can easily lose yourself in when you just want to unwind. The action sequences are engaging, and the dynamic between the protagonist and the various yandere characters (including his sister, apparently!) provides some… interesting… moments. I also appreciate the slight twist on the familiar "saves-damsels-in-distress" trope, even if it leans heavily into familiar territory.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue is the lack of depth. While the plot moves along at a decent pace, the characters often feel one-dimensional, driven more by their archetypes (the dense protagonist, the obsessive yanderes) than by genuine motivations. The world-building, as I mentioned earlier, also requires a significant suspension of disbelief. If you're looking for a complex, thought-provoking narrative, this probably isn't it.
Final Verdict
Sad News is the literary equivalent of junk food: not particularly nutritious, but undeniably satisfying in a guilty-pleasure kind of way. If you're willing to switch off your brain and enjoy a ridiculous plot with plenty of action and yandere antics, you might find yourself surprisingly entertained. Just don't expect a masterpiece. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars. It's not great, but it's certainly memorable.
