Description
Unable to control his mouth, Lin Jian Yin scared away eight previous girlfriends and six previous managers thanks to his poisonous words. Finally unable to stand it, he goes to a strange antique shop recommended by his friend. The shop supposedly has something that can help him. Even though a Nintendo that plays cartridges is a bit outdated, and probably no one plays it anymore, isn’t it too exaggerated to place it in an antique shop to sell? After returning home with a Nintendo, Lin Jian Yin inserts the cartridge that the owner sold to him at a huge discount. Only then does he discover that this is actually a simulation game. The female protagonist isn’t a cute loli, nor is she a mature woman. Rather, with her old lady hair and blue-white slippers, she is such a frightening woman that calling her a Taiwanese babe would seriously be insulting Taiwanese babes. Gods! His mission is actually to help this woman marry a perfect prince! How is that possible!!! Wait, as the main guy protagonist, Lin Jian Yin actually isn’t the prince. Then, then, who exactly is he… No, “what” exactly is he?

My Thoughts on Romance RPG
"Romance RPG" promised a lighthearted dive into a world of love, magic, and sentient objects, and for the most part, it delivered. I found myself chuckling along with the characters, even when the plot felt a little familiar. It's the kind of story you can easily pick up for a fun, relaxing read.
First Impressions
The initial hook grabbed me. We've got a hot-blooded male lead, a celebrity with a sharp tongue and a tendency to put his foot in his mouth, paired with a shy but competent female lead. Their meeting in an antique shop, the catalyst for their transformation, felt like a classic shoujo setup. I was ready for some fluffy romance and entertaining banter, and the story definitely provided that.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. The male lead's internal monologues and unfiltered thoughts had me laughing out loud. His character, despite his flaws, felt unique and engaging. I also appreciated the pacing. While the romance developed quickly, it still felt believable within the context of the story. The "magical game" aspect added a layer of intrigue and provided a fun backdrop for the characters to explore their feelings. The mystery woven into the plot kept me invested, and I was always eager to see what would happen next.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, I did find the female lead a bit underdeveloped. She felt somewhat generic, lacking the depth and complexity of the male lead. I also wished the side characters had been given more opportunities to shine. I was particularly interested in the male lead's best friend, but his story remained largely unexplored. The plot itself, while enjoyable, does follow a fairly predictable trajectory. If you're looking for groundbreaking originality, this might not be it.
Final Verdict
"Romance RPG" is a fun, fluffy read perfect for fans of shoujo romance and lighthearted fantasy. While it may not be the most groundbreaking story, it delivers on its promise of entertainment and romance. If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable escape, I recommend giving it a shot. It's a solid 3.5/5 stars from me.
