"Riding The Boss" promised a rollercoaster of romance, comedy, and drama in a corporate setting, and while it certainly delivered on the drama, my experience was a bit more complicated than I'd hoped. The premise, filled with cunning protagonists and enemies turning into lovers, initially hooked me. However, as I delved deeper, certain aspects left me feeling uneasy.
First Impressions
The initial chapters were intriguing. The power dynamics between the leads, the office setting, and the promise of a mature romance were all appealing. I was ready for some witty banter and maybe a little bit of corporate intrigue. The setup felt like it had the potential to be a really fun, guilty-pleasure read.
What Works Well
The novel excels at creating tension and conflict. The push and pull between the main characters kept me engaged, even when I wasn't entirely sure I was rooting for them. The author paints a vivid picture of the high-stakes world of business, and the characters are, at the very least, interesting to watch, even if not always likeable.
