The initial chapters introduce us to our female lead (FL) as she navigates her new life. She's a devoted fan who finds herself in the body of Yu Mian, the fiancée of her beloved Movie King. While the setup is intriguing, I did feel a bit of disconnect early on. The FL's initial reaction to her situation felt somewhat... detached.
What Works Well
Despite my initial reservations, there's plenty to enjoy. The story shines in its slice-of-life moments, depicting the FL's journey of rediscovering life and pursuing her passions in this new world. The slow-burn romance between the FL and the Movie King is undeniably cute, filled with the kind of sweet interactions that make you smile. I particularly appreciated the backstory of the FL and ML. It's interesting how the two have been intertwined even before reincarnation.
Areas of Concern
However, the novel isn't without its flaws. The pacing felt rushed towards the end, especially once the main couple officially gets together. I would have loved to see a more gradual development of their relationship, with more focus on their interactions and the nuances of their dynamic. I was also bothered by how the original Yu Mian was treated. Her own struggles were pushed aside. The childhood friend also tugged at my heartstrings. It would have been nice to see him come to terms with the loss in a more complete way.
