Description
Xiao Yuanbao was a pitiful little ger. His mother passed away when he was three, leaving him and his often-absent hunter father to depend on each other for survival. His father had thick brows and big eyes, which made him look quite frightening. Every time little Yuanbao sat down for a meal with him, he would end up crying from fear and calling out for his mother. The hunter didn’t know what to do and, with a matchmaker’s help, found a stepmother for Yuanbao. To give his son a better life, the hunter worked even harder in the mountains and only came home once every ten days or half a month. But instead of growing closer to his son, he became more distant-and didn’t even realize Yuanbao was being mistreated. It wasn’t until two years later, when he saw that his son-who had been raised with good food and drink-was thinner and weaker than poor boys his age, that he sensed something was wrong. The hunter was so worried he couldn’t sleep. It was around this time that a childhood engagement he had arranged for Yuanbao came knocking on their door. Hiding behind the door, little Yuanbao saw a new boy in the house-tall and sturdy, with an arm nearly as thick as Yuanbao’s leg. He thought his father had brought home another “older brother.” And seeing how this one was even bigger and stronger than the last, Yuanbao was certain he was going to be bullied again. Frightened, he began to cry: “I don’t want another brother. Make him go away.” But the boy didn’t get angry. He simply crouched down and gently wiped Yuanbao’s tear-streaked face: “Don’t chase me away, okay? I’ll buy you sweet rice.” … One-line Summary: Raising my wife all over again.

My Thoughts on Reborn to Raise My Husband
"Reborn to Raise My Husband" has been quite the delightful surprise! I went in expecting a fairly standard reincarnation story, but I found a heartwarming and nuanced tale of devotion, growth, and second chances. This isn't your typical face-slapping revenge plot; it's a slice-of-life story with a focus on building a strong and loving relationship.
First Impressions
The initial chapters, with the protagonists as children, were a bit slower-paced than I anticipated, but the charm of their interactions quickly won me over. It's endearing to watch the MC navigate his second chance, especially given his genuine affection for the ML. I was immediately drawn to the MC and how he carried the story. He has a calm demeanor and learns from the past life in calmness and yet also not just go with flows.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies in its characters and their development. The MC is consistently loyal and caring, not out of obligation, but out of true love for the ML. I particularly appreciate how the author realistically portrays the financial aspects of their lives, avoiding the common trope of instant wealth. He rose from being a farmer to a jinshi, much like an office worker in the ancient dynasty. I also enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere and the attention given to the side characters, even those with brief appearances. There is a touch of human even for the side characters. The ML's growth from a timid child to a reliable partner is also well-executed.
