My Thoughts on President, This Is Really a Misunderstanding!
I went into "President, This Is Really a Misunderstanding!" with a healthy dose of skepticism, given its somewhat lukewarm overall rating. However, I always believe in giving a story a fair shot, and I'm glad I did. It's definitely a unique read, though not without its quirks.
First Impressions
Initially, I felt a bit lost. The story throws you right into the thick of things, and it took me a few chapters to really understand what was going on. It's easy to see why some readers might be put off early on. The main character's (MC) personality is... well, it's a choice. He's not your typical suave, calculating protagonist.
What Works Well
Once I adjusted my expectations, I found myself enjoying the comedic aspects of the novel. The "dense protagonist" tag is definitely accurate, and it's the source of much of the humor. The system the MC gets is overpowered, sure, but I appreciate that he actually uses it intelligently. It's not just a plot device for easy wins. Several readers also praised the supporting characters, noting that they have distinct personalities and aren't just there to prop up the MC. I agree. They add a layer of depth to the story that keeps it from feeling too generic. The "jack of all trades" aspect is also fun, as it keeps the story moving and prevents it from getting stale.
Areas of Concern
The translation quality seems to be a recurring issue. I noticed some inconsistencies and errors that did pull me out of the story at times. It's not unreadable, but it could definitely use some improvement. Also, the MC's initial actions and subsequent "change" in attitude toward relationships were a bit jarring. I'd recommend giving it a shot, but maybe don't invest too heavily in it until you're sure it's your cup of tea.
