Description
Sootopolis City, a traditional Trainer fought a battle against Wallace, the representative of Coordinators and established the prominence of Pokémon Contests. Lilycove City, he attained the title of the youngest ever Senior Breeder, leaving a permanent mark in the records of the Breeder Association. Returning to Cerulean City as a Trainer, he easily defeated Bug Catchers with a single Pokémon and dominated the battles against the shorts-wearing kids along the way. This is actually a ordinary Pokémon fanfiction story, where the protagonist transmigrates to the real Pokémon world and embarks on a journey of exploration and personal growth, starting from Fallarbor Town.

My Thoughts on Pokémon Court
I dove into "Pokémon Court" with a healthy dose of skepticism, as I often do with fanfiction. The premise – a more realistic and mature take on the Pokémon world – intrigued me. After reading a good portion of the available chapters, I can confidently say that it's a mixed bag, but one with enough compelling elements to keep me reading.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the world-building. The author clearly puts a lot of effort into fleshing out the details of the Pokémon universe, moving beyond the simple mechanics of the games and anime. The protagonist, Terrance, is aiming to become a breeder and contender, and his journey is less about collecting badges and more about understanding and nurturing his Pokémon.
What Works Well
The realistic spin on the Pokémon world is, in my opinion, the strongest aspect of this novel. The author explores the nuances of Pokémon care, training, and even medicine, albeit sometimes with a heavy dose of original lore that may not sit well with all readers. I appreciate the focus on the protagonist's growth as a breeder, specializing in bringing out the best in his Pokémon, making them overcome their weaknesses. The unique personalities attributed to each Pokémon are also a major plus, making them feel more like companions than tools. The plot is also very well written and translated, making it an enjoyable read.
Areas of Concern
While I appreciate the detailed world-building, I can also see how it might be a drawback for some. At times, the information feels dense and, frankly, unnecessary. Long descriptions of berry recipes or Pokémon habitats, while informative, can slow down the pacing and detract from the core narrative. I also noticed some readers felt disconnected from the Pokémon due to the fast-paced plot, with the MC acquiring new Pokémon without sufficient exploration of their relationships and individual growth.

Final Verdict
"Pokémon Court" is a unique and engaging Pokémon fanfiction, particularly for those who enjoy detailed world-building and a more realistic approach to the source material. While the pacing can be slow at times and some of the information feels extraneous, the strong character development, unique Pokémon personalities, and intriguing plot make it worth a read. I'd give it a solid 4/5 stars.
