First Impressions
Okay, so the title definitely threw me for a loop. "My Husband Said, I Have No Love For You" screams angst, right? I went in expecting a bucket of tears and a whole lot of marital misery. What I found was… something else entirely. I'm still trying to piece together exactly how I feel about it.
What Works Well
The biggest surprise for me was the subversion of expectations. This isn't the heart-wrenching tale of unrequited love that the title implies. It's more of a complicated, unconventional relationship drama with a dash of fantasy. I found the "European ambience" to be a nice touch, adding a layer of sophistication to the whole affair. I also appreciated the strong female lead; she wasn't a damsel in distress, which is always a plus in my book. The story is complete, which is a huge draw for me. I hate getting invested in a story only to find out it's perpetually on hold.
Areas of Concern
While I appreciated the unexpected twists, I also found myself struggling to connect with the characters. It felt like I was watching a play unfold from a distance, rather than being immersed in their emotional journeys. It's hard to really care about the outcome when the emotional resonance is lacking.
