"Logical Aesthetics" sounded right up my alley – a mature romance with a bit of showbiz drama and a slow-burn relationship between a professor and his student? Sign me up! But after diving in, I have some mixed feelings.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely intriguing. A slightly older, perhaps jaded professor, Zhong Yi, and a younger, eager student, Zhang Xing, navigating their unexpected connection. The setup has potential for some great character development, especially with the hint of the ML helping the MC become a better version of himself. I was immediately curious to see how their relationship would unfold, especially with the power dynamics at play.
What Works Well
I appreciate the slow-burn approach to the romance. It seems the author takes their time developing the characters and their relationship, which can be incredibly rewarding when done well. I also like the idea of the younger ML pushing the MC to grow – that kind of dynamic can lead to some really compelling moments. The side couple adds another layer to the story, and while I wish they were more developed, their inclusion is a nice touch. The story has a mature plot that is worth the wait.
Areas of Concern
Honestly, the translation quality seems to be a significant hurdle for many readers. It's frustrating to encounter a story with so much potential, only to be bogged down by confusing language and awkward phrasing. This really takes you out of the story and makes it hard to connect with the characters. I really hope that the translation catches up to the quality of the original writing soon.
