My Thoughts on Interstellar Pharmacist
"Interstellar Pharmacist" is a web novel that I found to be a mixed bag, yet ultimately enjoyable in its own quirky way. It blends sci-fi elements with traditional cultivation themes, throwing in a dose of comedy and romance for good measure. While it has its shortcomings, particularly in world-building, the characters and their interactions kept me entertained.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, I was intrigued by the premise: a divine pharmacist transmigrating into the body of a "trash" noble miss in a futuristic, interstellar setting. The initial chapters drew me in with the promise of a clever protagonist navigating a new world with her old skills. I was ready for a fun ride!
What Works Well
The dynamic between the main characters is definitely a highlight. The female lead is a black-bellied, somewhat lazy, but undeniably intelligent pharmacist. Her interactions with her personal guard, the male lead, are often hilarious. He's good-looking and a bit narcissistic, constantly misinterpreting her actions as romantic advances when she's often just focused on her work. Their mutual misunderstanding and slow-burn romance added a delightful comedic layer to the story. I also appreciated the MC's resourcefulness. She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty and use her skills to make a name for herself, even if it meant starting from scratch.
Areas of Concern
The biggest issue I had was the world-building. While the concept of an interstellar world with ancient martial arts is interesting, it felt underdeveloped and inconsistent. The integration of sci-fi technology and cultivation practices was poorly executed. For example, characters use swords and knives in a world with spaceships and advanced communication technology. This lack of logical consistency often took me out of the story. Additionally, the plot felt somewhat simplistic. The MC spends a significant portion of the story dealing with immature villains instead of fully exploring her potential as a pharmacist. I felt like the storyline could have been more epic and impactful, given her skills.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Interstellar Pharmacist" is a light and entertaining read, especially if you're looking for something with a comedic undertone and a focus on character interactions. Just don't expect a deeply immersive or logically consistent world. If you can overlook the world-building issues and appreciate the humor and romance, you might find this novel a surprisingly enjoyable escape. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
