My Thoughts on Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society
I dove into Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society with high hopes, especially given the buzz around the author's previous work. It's a dungeon-crawling, system-heavy story, a genre I usually enjoy. My overall experience was a mixed bag, with some aspects really grabbing my attention while others left me wanting more.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked. The premise is intriguing: dungeons appearing on Earth, people gaining abilities, and a protagonist focused on leveling up rather than immediately saving the world. There's a certain charm to the early stages, where the MC is noticeably growing stronger and interacting with the world in a somewhat selfish but understandable way.
What Works Well
The action and dungeon exploration are definitely strengths. The fight scenes are often detailed and engaging, and the sheer variety of monsters, skills, and items keeps things interesting. I also found the humor to be a plus. The comedic moments, particularly in the early chapters, felt natural and added levity to the story. Some of the character interactions, especially with the shopkeeper Loretta, provided a welcome touch of depth.
Areas of Concern
However, as the story progressed, I noticed some recurring issues. The plot felt increasingly repetitive, with the MC grinding bosses and acquiring new abilities in a predictable cycle. The sense of danger and urgency seemed to fade, making the stakes feel less significant. The harem aspect, while present from the start, became more prominent and, for me, detracted from the overall narrative. The female characters started to feel one-dimensional, with their primary trait being their attraction to the MC. I also found myself struggling to connect with the main character as his personality seemed to shift, losing some of the initial charm that made him relatable.

Final Verdict
Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society had a lot of potential, and I enjoyed parts of it. However, the repetitive plot, one-dimensional characters, and lack of tension ultimately left me feeling disappointed. If you're a fan of harem stories and don't mind a somewhat generic plot, you might find something to enjoy here. But for me, the story ultimately fell short of its initial promise.
