The constant bullying and manipulation he endures from other characters, especially early on, felt less like comedic exaggeration and more like a relentless assault on his agency. I found it difficult to root for a protagonist who seemed to lack any real backbone or self-respect. The romantic subplot also felt somewhat forced, particularly the Stockholm syndrome aspects, and the motivations of some of the female characters were often baffling and frustrating. The inconsistency with character names and plot points also pulled me out of the story.
