Description

The initial chapters drew me in, setting the stage for a potentially heartwarming, albeit angsty, journey. I was ready for the emotional rollercoaster, but some aspects of the ride proved bumpier than I anticipated.

The author excels at creating a palpable sense of atmosphere. The historical context felt richly detailed, and the emotional intensity was consistently high. The extra chapter offers a lighter conclusion, which is a welcome reprieve from the heavy drama, but it ultimately couldn't completely erase the issues I had with the core relationship.
