My Thoughts on I Was on the Verge of Dying From Overwork, so I Ended Up Getting Married to a Prince From a Neighboring Country
First Impressions
Okay, so the title is a mouthful, but it definitely piqued my interest! I dove into "I Was on the Verge of Dying From Overwork, so I Ended Up Getting Married to a Prince From a Neighboring Country" expecting a fluffy, escapist read. And, for the most part, that's what I got. This novel seems to aim for a relaxing, slice-of-life vibe with a touch of fantasy romance. While it has its charms, it also stumbles in a few key areas.
What Works Well
The strongest aspect of this story is arguably its easy-going nature. It's definitely a novel you can pick up when you need to unwind and not think too hard. I found the "slow burn" romance to be quite enjoyable. It's a refreshing change of pace to see a relationship develop gradually, based on getting to know each other, rather than instant infatuation. The European-inspired setting adds a nice touch of charm, and the premise of an overworked woman finding respite in an unexpected marriage is inherently appealing. The pacing is well received by many, it seems to let the reader settle in and enjoy the day-to-day life of the main character.
Areas of Concern
However, there are some significant issues that hold this novel back. The main character, while relatable in her initial exhaustion, doesn't seem to develop much throughout the story. Her passivity and lack of strong personality can be frustrating. The male lead fares slightly better, but his motivations for marrying the MC sometimes feel flimsy. The plot, while present, doesn't offer much in the way of conflict or resolution. Some readers might find the ending abrupt and unsatisfying, with unresolved plot threads and a lack of a proper confession. The potential for political intrigue and consequences from the MC's previous overwork is largely unexplored, which is a missed opportunity.

Final Verdict
Overall, "I Was on the Verge of Dying From Overwork, so I Ended Up Getting Married to a Prince From a Neighboring Country" is a decent, if flawed, read. If you're looking for a light, relaxing story with a slow-burn romance and don't mind a somewhat passive protagonist and unresolved plot points, you might enjoy it. However, if you prefer strong character development, intricate plots, and satisfying conclusions, this might not be the novel for you. I'd say it's a solid 3/5 stars - enjoyable in moments, but ultimately forgettable.
