My Thoughts on I Never Thought I’d Make So Much Money
This novel was quite a ride! I went in expecting a certain type of story, and while it delivered on some fronts, it surprised me in others. It’s definitely a unique read, and I can see why it has garnered such a dedicated following.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn in by the premise: a transmigration story where the MC has to fulfill the original owner's wishes. That hook, combined with the promise of business acumen and a clever female lead, had me eager to dive in. I definitely wasn't disappointed by her personality!
What Works Well
The female lead is undoubtedly the star of the show. She's audacious, smart, and unapologetically ambitious. It's refreshing to see a female protagonist dominate the business world with such confidence, especially when so many other novels in this genre focus on male leads. I particularly enjoyed how she navigated complex family relationships and wasn't afraid to take risks, even if it meant ruffling some feathers (or cheating some jerks out of their money – which, let's be honest, felt pretty satisfying).
The business intrigue was also a strong point. While I admit I didn't always grasp every term or strategy, I was still entertained by the "business wit showdowns" and the MC's climb to wealth and prosperity. The detective subplot added another layer of intrigue, keeping me engaged and eager to uncover the truth behind the mysteries surrounding the original owner's past.
Areas of Concern
While the novel excels in many areas, there were a few aspects that fell a bit short for me. The romance, for instance, is definitely on the back burner. If you're primarily looking for a love story, you might be disappointed. The male lead is cute, but his role felt more supportive than central to the plot.
Also, the translation can be a bit rough in places, which sometimes made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. There was also a sentiment that the business ventures became repetitive, following a similar pattern of investment and expansion.

Final Verdict
Overall, I Never Thought I’d Make So Much Money is an engaging and unique read, especially if you enjoy strong female leads, business intrigue, and family drama. While the romance is minimal and the translation could be improved, the novel's strengths outweigh its weaknesses. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a refreshing take on the transmigration genre with a dash of mystery and a whole lot of ambition.
