Description

Initially, I was drawn in by the unique premise: a reincarnated protagonist trying to deal with a male lead who's been brainwashed to love her. It’s not your typical fluffy romance, that's for sure. I found myself immediately invested in Serina, the FL, and her complicated situation. The early chapters set the stage well, hinting at the dark undercurrents that run through the entire story.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel lies in its emotionally complex characters and the twisted dynamic between the leads. The relationship between Serina and Alistair is a rollercoaster – a blend of love, hate, guilt, and obligation. It's fascinating (and sometimes painful) to watch them navigate their feelings, especially knowing the ML's affection is, at least initially, the result of brainwashing. I also appreciated that Serina isn't an overpowered, Mary Sue-type character. She's flawed, sometimes selfish, and often feels helpless, which makes her relatable and her struggles feel more real. I also really enjoyed her relationship with her brothers, and how they try to protect her.
