I Don’t Care, So Let Me Go Home! Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on I Don’t Care, So Let Me Go Home!
This web novel, with its promise of comedy, fantasy, and a lazy protagonist just trying to avoid trouble, definitely piqued my interest. The premise of a "bystander's" perspective on a villainess manga world sounds hilarious, and I dove in hoping for a lighthearted, entertaining read.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked. The translation seemed solid, and the female lead, Rururia, is quite funny. Her reactions to the absurd situations she finds herself in are genuinely amusing. The story starts strong, and the unique perspective, showing events from multiple points of view, is definitely a plus. It's fun seeing how others perceive Rururia and her attempts to stay out of the spotlight.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. Rururia's dry wit and attempts to navigate the chaotic world around her are entertaining. I also appreciate the novel's unique approach to the "reincarnated as a villainess" trope. Seeing it from the outside, with Rururia as a seemingly ordinary character caught in the crossfire, is refreshing. The characters, while sometimes eccentric, are interesting and add to the overall comedic effect.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, my enjoyment waned as I progressed. I found myself struggling to follow the plot after a certain point, around chapter 30. The writing or translation seems to become muddled, with unclear dialogue and confusing scene transitions. It felt like the plot jumps suddenly, and I lost track of who was speaking and what was happening. The characters also seem to act inconsistently, which can be jarring.

Final Verdict
"I Don’t Care, So Let Me Go Home!" has a lot of potential, and the initial chapters are genuinely funny and engaging. However, the later issues with plot coherence, character consistency, and translation quality ultimately detract from the overall experience. While the unique premise and humorous protagonist are appealing, the story's execution, particularly in the later chapters, leaves much to be desired. I'd recommend approaching this novel with caution, keeping in mind that the quality may decline as you progress.
