My Thoughts on How to Catch an A
"How to Catch an A" is a whirlwind of a story that left me with a serious case of the warm fuzzies, even if it was a little bittersweet. This Alpha/Beta romance dives headfirst into the "husband chasing crematorium" trope, and as someone who enjoys a good grovel, I was definitely intrigued.
First Impressions
From the start, I was hooked by the premise: a shou who isn't exactly a saint. He's a bit of a liar, initially seeing the gong as a meal ticket. But then love, as it often does, throws a wrench in his plans. The setup is fantastic, promising angst, sweetness, and a whole lot of pining.
What Works Well
The dynamic between the leads is undoubtedly the heart of this story. The angst is balanced with genuinely sweet moments, making their eventual reunion feel earned. I particularly enjoyed the shou's determination to win back his lover. It's refreshing to see a character face the consequences of their actions and fight for a second chance, even if it means a bit of stalking (which, admittedly, made me raise an eyebrow). The friends and family who are unaware of the breakup add a nice comedic touch, creating awkward and hilarious situations. The story is a rollercoaster of emotions, and I was completely invested in seeing them get their happy ending. The author does a great job making the reader root for the MC, even with all his flaws.
Areas of Concern
While I adored the story, I can see why some might find it a bit rushed. The story is quite short, and I, too, wished for more depth and development, particularly in the aftermath of their reconciliation. A bit more maturity from the MC would have been welcome, as he can come across as a bit immature at times. I feel that some wanted a little more angst, but I feel that the story had a good balance.

Despite its brevity and minor flaws, "How to Catch an A" is a highly enjoyable read. If you're a fan of the "husband chasing crematorium" trope, Alpha/Beta dynamics, and stories with a good mix of angst and sweetness, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Just be prepared to crave more!
