"How to Catch an A" is a whirlwind of a story that left me with a serious case of the warm fuzzies, even if it was a little bittersweet. This Alpha/Beta romance dives headfirst into the "husband chasing crematorium" trope, and as someone who enjoys a good grovel, I was definitely intrigued.

First Impressions

From the start, I was hooked by the premise: a shou who isn't exactly a saint. He's a bit of a liar, initially seeing the gong as a meal ticket. But then love, as it often does, throws a wrench in his plans. The setup is fantastic, promising angst, sweetness, and a whole lot of pining.

What Works Well

The dynamic between the leads is undoubtedly the heart of this story. The angst is balanced with genuinely sweet moments, making their eventual reunion feel earned. I particularly enjoyed the shou's determination to win back his lover. It's refreshing to see a character face the consequences of their actions and fight for a second chance, even if it means a bit of stalking (which, admittedly, made me raise an eyebrow). The story is quite short, and I, too, wished for more depth and development, particularly in the aftermath of their reconciliation.
