The initial chapters hooked me with the promise of witty banter and a protagonist determined to subvert her fate. However, I quickly realized that the story's strengths and weaknesses were intertwined.
What Works Well
The dynamic between Shen Ziqiao and Qi Zheng, the male lead who pretends to be mentally deficient, is undeniably entertaining. Their bickering and eventual romance were a highlight, offering moments of genuine humor and sweetness. I appreciated that the romance wasn't immediate; it developed gradually as they navigated their complicated circumstances. I also found the MC's family to be very enjoyable, particularly her mother's side of the family as they were very doting.
