Description
The novel constructs a fictional historical stage modelled after the Ming Dynasty’s “Tumu Crisis”. It begins with the “Wuying Western Campaign”, with the rise and fall of the “Jingtai Dynasty” and the Zhengtong Dynasty as its central narrative thread. Spanning fifty years, featuring over three hundred characters, and comprising more than four million words, the story revolves around the theme of “restoration”. Political upheavals compel each protagonist to face critical decisions—right and wrong, guilt and punishment, death and surrender. Their joys and sorrows, their trials of human nature, ultimately redefine the essence of heroism. This decade-long epic journey culminates in the spirit of “Hero’s Legends.” The novel is divided into three parts: 1. The Jingtai Dynasty (Volumes 1-8: From “The Storm of Xiliang” to “Top of the Honour Roll”), 2. The War of Restoration (Volumes 9-15: From “The Divine Sword Captures the Dragon” to “The Iron Guard of the Nation”), 3. The Zhengtong Dynasty (Volumes 16-26: From “The Infernal Demon Blade” to “The Heroes Reunite”). The first four volumes primarily introduce the four main protagonists: Yang Suguan, Qin Zhonghai, Lu Yun, and Wu Dingyuan. – Wu Dingyuan, a head constable from Xiliang, pursues justice by investigating the massacre of the Yanling Escort Agency, only to become a target of various political forces. – Lu Yun, having failed the imperial examination and wrongly imprisoned, remains steadfast in his ideals… Eventually, the four protagonists converge in the capital, marking the beginning of their journey of growth and transformation. ~ The novel has also been adapted into a drama starring Cheng Yi, with the airing date yet to be announced. ~
